Our Commitment
to Indigenous Australia

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.

Our work is conducted across Australia and spans across multiple stolen Indigenous lands including:

  • Boon Wurrung Country
  • Woiworrung Country
  • Wathaurong Country
  • Taungurung Country
  • Ngunnawal Country
  • Larrakia Country
  • Kardu Yek Diminin Country
  • The Tiwi Islands

We pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.

  1. We support the Uluru Statement from the Heart and call for a First Nations Voice to be enshrined in the Australian Constitution that would empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

  2. We support and are committed to the  call for a Makarrata Commission to supervise a process of agreement-making between governments and First Nations and truth-telling about our history.

Makarrata is a word from the language of the Yolngu people in Arnhem Land.

As Australian lawyer and academic, Noel Pearson has explained:

“The Yolngu concept of Makarrata captures the idea of two parties coming together after a struggle, healing the divisions of the past. It is about acknowledging that something has been done wrong, and it seeks to make things right.”

  3. We are committed to working and living in a world where we are contributing to making past wrongs right.

  4. We are committed to learning and listening to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories.

  5. We are committed to taking action to become part of the solution. This means we will consider the resources and people we have available to create positive change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We proactively seek to work with and/or support organisations that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as educate the general population about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues, priorities and perspectives.

  6. We are committed to continually listening and learning to the perspectives, priorities and knowledges of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our team have all undertaken cultural competency training.
