What are community futures?

Community futures are shaped by the values and wisdom of the people who will live them.

They take shape at community gatherings, on Country, in conversations and the felt, lived experience of people in our communities; because the people closest to a place are also closest to its future. 

Most leaders now agree that engaging with the future matters more than it did five years ago. Yet planning horizons keep shortening, and foresight remains something organisations reach for occasionally, rather than something they live inside.

We don't think that's a capability gap, we think it's a listening gap because those signals we're looking for to design our futures are hidden in plain sights. They're in our in the lived experience of people living in our communities; because the people closest to a place are also closest to its future.
