A special type of person

The TANK person is a special type of person – our people believe that business can be a force for good and they come to work to make that happen.

We make every effort to build a team of people at TANK who reflect our values and purpose.

Often described as ‘T-Shaped People’, these people bring with them stories, values and experience that are critical to telling compelling stories, developing creative ideas and connecting people with meaningful organisations.

Altogether our people bring a breadth of expertise across our practice areas, and a world view from outside of their working lives, that always continues to nourish our work and ideas.

We go out of our way to attract the right type of person – working with a range of creative disciplines is important to us and nurturing relationships with the people and organisations we collaborate with is critical.

In our day-to-day we create a flat-culture where egos are left at the door and our teams are both autonomous and encouraged to own the work they work on.

Our people are very much their own people – and we like that. We measure happiness in our business and we push to develop creative leadership in every member of our team.

We all share a respect for one another, a love of what we do and a strong desire to create positive change.

Oh, and those photos of the amazing Marita Davies? They were taken by the amazing Lucy Spartalis.

CREATIVE LEADERSHIP

The key skills of a creative leader

Empathy

We look for people who are great empathic listeners. People who understand the difference between empathy and sympathy and can walk in other people's shoes. Human-centred design requires us to understand user needs by removing bias, embracing ambiguity and putting the people who are impacted by the challenges we solve — front and centre.

Strategic designers

Design thinking is a key skill amongst all of our people. Being able to develop strategic solutions rapidly moves us closer to the solution — this takes skill and an ambiton to learn through experimentation. With an understanding of the difference between good and bad strategy — our strategy teams understand the intimate relationship between business and brand stratgey.

Creative leadership

Good leadership is something we all aim to learn and achieve — and it's something we aim to develop in everyone that comes to work with us. Yes, leaders do eat last, and they also celebrate feminism, marriage equality, diversity, design thinking and creativtiy at the board room table.

Curiousity and ambiguity

The key to solving problems in a world that is in a constant state of change is to embrace the ambigous. A key trait of the creative leader is the ability to manage, operate and innovate in an ambigous environment. This curiousity and ability to navigate change is a critical skill in working with leaders who develop meaningful brands and innovation culture.
